Clearview Retreat

Goals for this waterfront property extended beyond the walls of the home. The program for improving this unique waterfront site included creating multiple exterior gathering spaces, addressing newly designed points of entry, and enhancing the environmental quality of the land.

Old Chester granite flagging was used to create a patio adjacent to the screened porch, walkways, and stairs descending to the waterfront. The flagstone was chosen for its rustic and ageless character, complementing the live-edge siding and historical nature of the home.

With one of two lakeside accessory structures removed, in its footprint, a perched beach was created with a small flagstone seating area. This area was buffered with native New Hampshire shrubs to nestle it into the natural environment.

Perhaps the most considerable change in the landscape was the transformation of a sprawling lawn into a wildflower meadow. The meadow has become a favorite stop of strolling neighbors taking in the continually changing wildflowers.
