Whitney Timber Frame Home - Fairlee, Vermont

| The Whitneys, building in Fairlee, Vermont, have started the timber frame design process with us, bringing a strong sense of the aesthetic they desire, as well as a thorough list of the spaces they require for their vacation home. The Whitneys have dreamed about and researched their timber frame design for years. They have visited many timber frame manufacturers and seen many completed projects. Together we have developed their program (a list of the required rooms they wish for their new home, and some approximate sizes of those rooms) and the general form of the home to a comfortable level. From that point we produced some simple sketches to key in on the design intent they were envisioning (see a sample to the left). Their timber frame home will use Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) as an energy efficient enclosure system and also incorporate a renewable energy system. Once the sketches were completed and all of the options and styles discussed, progress begins on the timber frame type and layout (see image below). Check back soon to see further progress. |
